This book was written by a Plattsburgh, New York resident and tells the story of the captain of the USS Saratoga, Thomas Macdonough, a Delawarean who defeated a superior British force on Lake Champlain during the War of 1812. President Theodore Roosevelt said of Macdonough, "He was one of our greatest sea captains, he has left a stainless name behind him." A new edition of this book was released in 2001.
